Shop went from paper tickets to tablets 2 years ago, and the young guys can't read a wiring diagram anymore
When I started at the shop on 9th Street every new guy got handed a Chilton manual and a grease pencil on day one, now they just scan the VIN and wait for the screen to tell them which pin to probe. I watched a kid last month stare at a no-start on a 2014 Civic for 90 minutes because his scan tool showed no codes and it never crossed his mind to test the fuel pump relay by hand. Curious if other shops are seeing the same thing or if it's just how the trade is going now.
