Snapped a bleeder screw on a 2009 Corolla and had to tell the customer it was my fault
Last Tuesday I was doing a brake flush on a 2009 Corolla at the shop in Mesa and the rear bleeder screw snapped clean off. I had the wrench on it and gave it maybe 15 pounds of pull, nothing crazy, but it was rusted solid from 14 years of Arizona heat cycles. I tried an extractor and that just chewed the hole out worse. So I had to walk up front and tell the guy his caliper was shot, which was not true when he pulled in. The shop ate the $180 for a new caliper and I stayed an hour past close to bleed the whole system again. Now I hit every bleeder with penetrating oil the day before a flush, no exceptions. Any of you got a trick for stuck bleeders that does not involve heat near a brake line?
