Spent 4 hours chasing a vacuum leak that was just a loose hose clamp

Got an 08 F-150 in the shop last Tuesday with a rough idle. Pulled out the smoke machine, checked every inch of intake tubing, sprayed carb cleaner everywhere. Nothing. Finally gave up and started replacing gaskets one by one. Turned out the clamp on the PCV hose was barely finger tight. Job was 10 minutes once I found it. Has anyone else had a simple fix take way longer than it should have because you assumed it was something more complicated?

My buddy spent damn near a whole Saturday chasing a misfire that ended up being a loose spark plug wire.
