Spotted a minor oil seep on an engine with high mileage. Fix or leave it?
During a tune-up, I found a slow oil seep from the valve cover. Not a leak, just seeping. My buddy says always tell the customer. I think it might scare them for no reason. What's your call?

Over-sharing is a modern disease... just my two cents.

Back in my first year at Joe's Garage, I panicked over every tiny seep. I must have scared off half a dozen customers by pointing out stuff that was basically normal wear. Now I know better, but I still lean towards honesty. Just frame it like it's no big deal. If it's not dripping and the oil level is fine, calling it a 'seep' instead of a 'leak' helps keep things calm.
