Tried the 'euro flush' method on a Ford 6.0 diesel and blew out the coolant system
I was in my garage last Tuesday, working on a 2006 F-250 that kept overheating. Everyone on the forums swears by the Euro flush with thermostats removed to clean out the block. I followed the steps to the letter, hooked up a garden hose to the heater core return line, and let it run for 15 minutes. The pressure built up behind a stubborn chunk of rust and split the degas bottle right down the seam. Cost me $180 for a new bottle and coolant, and I spent the whole weekend replacing hoses that had weak spots. Any of you guys had this method backfire on a Powerstroke?

Same thing happened to my buddy's 6.0 when he tried it on his F-350, the rust chunks just don't flush out clean. What finally worked for me was pulling both freeze plugs on the block and hitting the passages with a pressure washer on low.

Yeah "rust chunks" is exactly the problem. Had a buddy try that stuff on an old Ford 300 inline six, thing ran worse after. He thought he flushed it good but ended up with a clogged heater core. Had to replace the whole damn thing. Pressure washer trick makes sense but you gotta be real careful about the electrical stuff. Ask me how I know.
