Warning: The diagnostic process for a 2010 Civic's intermittent stall is totally different now

Back in 2012, I'd have spent a day checking the main relay, fuel pump, and cleaning the throttle body on a hunch. Now, with a decent scan tool, I pulled a pending code for a crankshaft sensor correlation fault in 20 minutes. What's the biggest time-saver you've seen come from better scan data versus the old 'wiggle test' methods?

Had a van with a weird misfire last month. Scanned it and found a bad coil pack code right away, saved me hours of pulling plugs.

Scanners are lifesavers for those random misfires.

Emma684's right about the coil pack thing, I read a thread on a mechanic forum where a guy spent three days chasing a misfire that turned out to be a bad injector ground. Scanner would've caught it in five minutes. That's why I always keep my Autel in the truck, even for the random stuff. You can waste a whole afternoon guessing with a multimeter and end up nowhere. Cheaper than buying parts you don't need too, that's for sure.
