Am I the only one who switched from calling brokers to booking direct, and it was night and day?
Back in 2019 I shipped a Corolla from Cleveland to Denver through one of those big online brokers and it took 11 days to even get a driver assigned. The quote was $850, then the guy shows up asking for $1,050 cash or he drives off. Last spring I tried a small direct carrier out of Akron I found through a buddy's body shop, and the whole thing was done in 4 days for $900 flat, no games. The difference was talking to the actual driver instead of a call center reading a script. With the broker I got three different people on the phone who couldn't tell me where my car was, and with the carrier the owner texted me a photo at every stop. I get why people use the big sites for peace of mind, but it never worked out that way for me. Anybody here still use brokers, or did you all make the jump to direct?
