Hot take: I was wrong about open carriers for my restored Datsun
I always swore I would only ship my 1971 Datsun 240Z in an enclosed trailer, and I turned down three open carrier quotes for a move from Phoenix to Denver. Last week I finally talked to a dispatcher in Amarillo who explained how the top deck and wheel straps actually work, and his carrier had a $1 million cargo policy with zero claims in five years. I went with open transport for $850 instead of $1,900 enclosed, and the car showed up with nothing worse than a light dust film. Has anyone else switched to open after years of paying for enclosed, and did you regret it?

Dude $850 vs $1900 for a dust film is a no brainer. Enclosed is mostly a peace of mind tax anyway, the straps and top deck do the real work.
