I figured dealer delivery was a scam until the $650 quote for my Tacoma in a snowstorm
I always thought paying for dealer delivery on a vehicle I bought online was just burning money, so I booked a cheap open carrier for $400 to get my Tacoma from Denver to Phoenix last month. Then a snowstorm hit the pass and the carrier ghosted me for four days while my truck sat at a lot on Colfax. A buddy finally talked me into calling a broker who quoted $650 for enclosed, and I figured I'd already lost a week so what's another $250. The truck showed up in 36 hours with zero salt on the paint and a driver who actually texted me updates. Your mileage may vary depending on the route, but I'm now the guy who pays extra for enclosed in winter. Has anyone else had a cheap carrier flake out mid-route like that?
