My worst transport week ever involved 3 broken trucks and a blizzard in Ohio

Last February I had three rigs go down in five days, all with different issues. One threw a belt on I-80 near Toledo, another had a air line snap in Cleveland, and the third just refused to start outside Columbus. I spent 14 hours on the phone with brokers explaining delays while my customers were screaming about their cars being stuck. Has anyone else had a whole fleet fail at once, or am I just the unlucky one?

Ever had to explain to three different customers why their freight is sitting when you've got zero trucks to send? Because that was me last January, except swap Ohio for Pennsylvania and add a fuel pump that died on top of everything. The trick that saved my sanity was writing one master email with all the details, then just changing the customer name and shipment number for each one. Also, I started keeping a spare set of belts and an extra air line coupler in every truck after that week, costs like 40 bucks but saves you a full day of waiting. If you don't already have a list of independent mechanics along I-80 and I-70, make one now, those guys saved me twice when the dealerships were backed up. And seriously, get a jump pack that can crank a semi, the Columbus truck was just a dead battery and it cost me a whole extra day because nobody had one.
