Vent: broker in Phoenix tried to add a $250 "fuel surcharge" after I'd already signed
Booked a move from Phoenix to Denver for my brother's truck, quoted $875 flat, then the guy calls two days before pickup saying fuel went up and it's now $1,125 or they release the slot. I told him to send me that in writing and never heard from him again, so I rebooked with a different carrier for $910. Has anyone else had a broker try to spring a surprise fee right before pickup?
A $250 jump out of nowhere two days before pickup is wild, that's almost a 30% hike on a quote he already agreed to. Stuff like that makes me wonder how many people just pay it because they're stuck and can't find another truck in time. Good on you for calling his bluff and walking, sounds like he was just hoping you'd panic.
