Just realized my old code reader was giving me wrong codes

Been chasing a check engine light on my 2010 F-150 for two months. Bought a $40 scanner off Amazon years ago and it kept saying it was an O2 sensor. Swapped that out three times before a buddy brought over his Autel scanner and it pointed straight to a vacuum leak. Anyone else have a cheap tool that led you down the wrong path?

Spent three weeks replacing MAF sensors on my wife's Honda because a cheap scanner kept throwing the same code. Turned out it was a cracked intake boot. Threw that $40 scanner in the trash and never looked back.

Cheap sensors work fine, cheap processors give garbage guesses.
