Question about my brake bleeding method I've been using for years

I spent 4 hours last Saturday bleeding the brakes on my 97 Civic, using the old pump and hold method with a buddy. Turns out I was pushing the pedal too fast and spraying air back into the lines every time. Any of you guys run into this where the old school method just doesnt work right on certain cars?

Pump and hold definitely still works but you gotta be real gentle with that pedal. Fast pumps just churn the fluid and aerate it, makes it worse. That's probably why you got air back in the lines, especially on a Honda where the master cylinder is finicky. Some cars just hate the old school method, newer ones with ABS need a scan tool sometimes.

2002 Civic here, same problem with the master. @linda_mason82 you nailed it, gentle slow pumps are the only way on these things.
