Saw a guy at the Daytona spring car show bleed brakes solo with a $4 clear tube and a Gatorade bottle
I was at the Daytona spring swap meet in April checking out a crusty 68 Chevelle when the owner started doing a brake job right in the parking lot. He ran a clear hose from the bleeder screw into a cut Gatorade bottle with a little fluid already in it, and just pumped the pedal himself maybe 15 times per corner. Kept the hose end under the fluid so no air got sucked back in. I've always needed a buddy for this. Has anyone else tried this one man trick, and did it actually hold up long term?
Kept the hose end under the fluid is the whole trick, that's what stops the air from sneaking back in. Take it a step further and crack the bleeder just a hair, then let gravity do the work for a minute before you even touch the pedal. Way less chance of foaming the fluid or pulling air past the threads.
