Shoutout to the 200k mile club, my odometer turned over last week and now I can't decide if I should rebuild or run it
Hit 200,000 miles on my 2004 Tacoma in a Walmart parking lot in Council Bluffs last Tuesday, and honestly I just sat there for a minute staring at it. Half of me says keep going since the 2.7 still starts every morning and burns maybe half a quart between changes, but the other half keeps hearing my brother in law say the timing chain is living on borrowed time. Rebuilding the top end would run me close to 900 bucks in parts alone, versus rolling the dice and just driving it till it quits. For the folks who pushed way past this mark, did you do a planned refresh or just keep topping off fluids and hoping?
