Spent $180 on a pro alignment after I put new struts on, and my tires still wore wrong
I did the struts myself over a weekend in my driveway back in April, which went fine, but then the car pulled right and I figured I was in over my head. So I paid a shop $180 for a four wheel alignment and told myself it was money well spent. Three months later the inside edges of both front tires were bald, and a guy at the tire place in Sacramento showed me the camber bolts were never touched, just the toe. Turns out my car needs a camber kit for the front, which the shop never mentioned and I never asked about. So I burned $180 on an alignment plus about $320 on a pair of tires that died early. If you swap struts on a car with a MacPherson front end, ask the shop flat out if it needs camber bolts before you hand over the card. Anyone here run into that on their own strut job?
