That $35 valve shim tool paid for itself in one afternoon
My 2005 Kawasaki started ticking like a sewing machine last month, and the shop quoted me $420 to check and adjust the valves. I watched a few videos, bought a cheap shim kit and the little tool on Amazon, and honestly the worst part was fighting with the cam caps. Has anyone else done their own valve lash and ended up ordering a second set of shims because you dropped one into the oil pan?

Is it really worth all that hassle just to save a few hundred bucks, especially when you could've just paid the shop and been done with it in a day? Sounds like you spent your whole afternoon fighting bolts and losing shims anyway.
