The $20 socket set that outlasted my $200 Snap-On ratchet

I bought this cheap Stanley socket set from Home Depot maybe 8 years ago for like $20 on clearance. My Snap-On ratchet from the truck broke after 2 years of light weekend use. That cheap Stanley socket set? Still going strong, even after I dropped it in a bucket of used oil and hosed it off. The catch is the sockets themselves are fine, but the ratchet mechanism is kinda gritty now. Anyone else have a cheap tool that just refuses to die?

Oh @skylergrant is spot on, I used to think expensive was always better but that cheap set changed my mind completely.

Your sockets are fine cause they're just hunks of steel. The ratchet is where they cheap out every time.
