Used to pull the battery cable to reset my ECU, now I just wait 10 minutes with the key on
For 6 years I would pop the negative terminal off for 30 seconds whenever I needed to clear a check engine light, and it always wiped my radio presets and idle relearn. A guy at the parts counter in Dayton told me to just leave the key in the run position for 10 minutes with the battery hooked up, and it does the same reset without nuking the memory. Does that actually work on every make, or is it just a Toyota and Honda thing?
