Appreciation post: The day I realized I was using the wrong crimp tool for 3 years

I was over at a buddy's hangar in Wichita last month and he caught me struggling with a D-sub pin. He handed me his M22520 and I finished the whole harness in 20 minutes. My $30 Amazon special has been in the trash ever since. Anyone else have a tool that wasted years of your time?

Man your "30 dollar Amazon special" line hit me right in the wallet. I did the SAME thing with wire strippers for like five years using some gas station pair that barely worked. Finally borrowed a proper Klein set from a guy and felt like a COMPLETE idiot.

Yeah I was totally one of those guys that thought brand name tools were a scam. Always figured you were paying for the name and nothing else. Then I stripped one too many wires with a pair that just shredded the copper every time and I snapped. Bought a half decent pair and @anthony_lane55 is right, it makes you feel stupid for not doing it sooner. The difference in how clean the cut is and how much faster the job goes is night and day. Now I tell everyone starting out to just buy the good ones first and skip the headache.
