Digital torque adapters won me over after a sticky prop bolt
I fought using a beam style torque wrench for years on prop governor bolts, figured digital adapters were just gimmicks for kids. Then last month at KSDL I had a stubborn 520 inch-pound bolt that kept reading low on the beam, tried the adapter and it caught the click at the exact spec every time. The adapter cost me $180 at the local tool shop, it paid for itself in one afternoon when I didn't have to redo the whole install. Anyone else made the switch and never looked back, or am I the last guy to come around?

Man, I have to disagree with you on this one. Those digital adapters are only as good as their calibration, and I have seen way too many guys trust a cheap one that was off by 15 percent and never checked it again. A beam wrench might not be fancy but it does not drift on you and it never needs a battery in the middle of a hangar at 6am. You got lucky that bolt was just sticky and not actually stretching, because a digital click would have told you the same lie the beam did. I am not saying toss the adapter, but calling the beam style a gimmick for kids is backwards in my book. Get that adapter checked on a known tester before you trust it on anything that matters.
