Had to pick between a $1200 used Fluke meter or a $400 new generic one for the shop. Went with the generic and it's been fine for 6 months, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The generic stuff anxiety is a real tax.

Maybe @jade_young88, but that low-level worry can keep you sharp sometimes.

Those numbers from the Harvard Business Review study on workplace anxiety actually show the opposite... constant low-level worry drains your cognitive resources over time, it doesn't sharpen them. The researchers tracked 400 employees for 6 months and the ones with baseline anxiety had 30% more mistakes on detail-oriented tasks. That "sharp" feeling you get is just adrenaline from being on edge, which fades pretty quick once you're used to it. It's like running a car engine at high idle all the time just in case you need to drive fast... works for a little while but wears out the parts faster.
