Hit 10,000 wire terminations without a single rework last month

I've been tracking my work for a while now, just out of curiosity. Back in March I hit 10,000 wire terminations on various harnesses and connectors without having to redo a single one. That includes D-sub pins, circular connectors, and those tiny Molex micro-fits. It surprised me because I remember my first year I'd screw up every 10th or 15th termination easy. What really made it click was switching to a good quality ratcheting crimper and actually checking my strip length with a gauge every time. Anyone else keep stats on their work like this?

...wait, 10,000 terminations with zero rework? That's insane. I mean, I've been doing this for a while and I still have those days where I mash a pin or nick a wire and have to start over. The strip length thing is probably the biggest deal though, I always just eyeballed it and then wondered why my crimps sucked. A gauge sounds like something I should probably actually buy instead of just thinking about it.

Man, I feel that so hard. I used to just guesstimate my strip length too and my crimps were all over the place. Finally broke down and got a simple gauge last year and it honestly made a huge difference, wish I'd done it way sooner. It's one of those things that seems too simple to matter but really does.
