Noticed a huge difference after swapping out old coax cables on our test bench

We had this ancient RG58 coax on the bench for years. Signal readings were always a little jumpy. Finally swapped it out for some fresh LMR-240 last Tuesday. The noise floor dropped by about 3 dBm instantly. Made me wonder how many other little things we just tolerate. Any of you guys find a simple cable swap change your troubleshooting game?

That line about the noise floor dropping 3 dBm caught my attention. It really shows how we get used to equipment quirks and forget they might be fixable with something as simple as better cabling. I had a similar experience once with a bad BNC connector on an old spectrum analyzer, and replacing it cleared up more ghost signals than I ever expected.

Right? You don't realize how many little issues you're just living with until you swap out one cable. It's wild how a worn-out connector can mess with everything and you just assume the gear is getting old or something.
