Old timer's pin test saved my harness build last week. Kept telling me to tug every pin with a pick tool after crimping, not just eyeball it. Found 3 pins in one D-sub that looked seated but slid right out, so now I do it on every connector. Who else has had intermittent faults traced back to pins that passed a visual but failed a tug?

Tugging pins is one of those checks that feels dumb until it saves you, like double-checking your work or reading the label twice. Same reason I always test a door before I lock it, the visual check is just your brain filling in what it wants to see. Once you've had a fault that only shows up after you've already closed the panel, you never trust a flush look again. It's the same with anything that has to survive moving, shaking, or heat, the cheap insurance is always the little extra step nobody wants to do.
