Rant: my avionics bay wiring went from a rat's nest to clean in 3 weeks and all it took was one label maker
Three weeks ago my avionics bay on a King Air 200 at our hangar in Wichita looked like spaghetti, every wire crossed over the next and troubleshooting took forever. I started printing heat shrink labels for every single run and zip tying in sections, and now I can trace a fault in under 5 minutes instead of 45. What do you guys use to keep your bundles straight when the manual doesn't give you a clean routing path?
I read somewhere that the old school trick is lacing cord with a running stitch, keeps bundles tight without the zip tie pinch points. Never tried it myself but the guys who do it swear it holds up better in high vibration spots. Might be worth a shot for the runs where you can't get a clean path.
