Spliced a pitot heat wire on a King Air at 2am instead of waiting for the replacement pin kit, still not sure I made the right call
We were AOG in Wichita and the proper pin was 6 hours out, so I did a field splice that got the crew flying but the FAA guy who looked at it later called it "creative." Do you splice to get them home or ground the bird and make them wait for the right part?

Honestly, calling a splice "creative" sounds more like a compliment than a writeup.
