That 5 minute walk around test caught a 2k trim failure before takeoff
Watched a line guy skip the preflight walk on a Cessna and the elevator trim tab was hanging loose from a stripped screw hole, something my borescope never wouldve picked up on the bench. Anyone else ever caught stuff like that just by walking the airplane slowly instead of trusting the paperwork first?

Caught a cracked rudder hinge bracket on a Piper Seneca once just by walking slow and looking at the surface from different angles. The paper said it was fine, and the bench inspection missed it too because the crack was hidden until you put weight on the hinge. Took me about 20 seconds to see, but if I rushed the walk like some guys do, it wouldve been airborne. Now I always do a full circle at two different distances before I touch any panel.
