That old timer at the hangar changed my mind about pin testers
I used to think pin testers were overkill and you could get by with a multimeter and some patience. But last Tuesday a guy who's been doing avionics since the 80s showed me how a bad pin fit on a 737NG harness caused an intermittent fault that took three shifts to find. He said 'you're chasing ghosts without a pin tester, kid.' Now I'm grabbing one from the tool crib for every connector job. Anyone else swear by a specific brand of pin tester over another?

Jumped on that bandwagon myself after watching a senior tech pull his hair out over a pin that looked fine but wasn't making contact. Funny how the old heads always seem to have the answer we didn't want to hear.

Saw the same thing happen at our shop last year. Old school guy proved me wrong about pin testers too, now I don't touch a harness without one. Funny how the guys who've been doing this forever usually know what they're talking about.
