TIL a lesson about moisture in connectors from a job in Phoenix three years ago

We had a comms box on a regional jet that kept failing after overnight checks. The problem was a tiny bit of condensation inside the D-sub connectors from the hangar's AC hitting the desert heat. Has anyone else seen this in dry climates?

@jenkins.spencer desiccant packs work but they need to be swapped out regularly in that climate.

Read a case study about a data center in Nevada. They had the same condensation issue with fiber optic patch panels. The daily temperature swing from the desert night to the AC caused repeated failures. They fixed it by adding desiccant packs inside the enclosures.

That's a clever fix. It's wild how often the simplest solution is just controlling moisture. You see it everywhere from phone cases to car doors.
