Update: A 737's main display went full disco mode during a pre-flight check in Dallas yesterday
The screen just started cycling through every color in the rainbow, so I had to pull the circuit breaker and run the whole BITE test again, which took an extra 40 minutes before we could push back.

Ugh, that rainbow effect is a classic sign... next time, try pulling the display unit itself first, not just the breaker. The connector pins on the back can work loose and cause that exact color cycle. Saved me a full BITE test more than once.

Been there with a forklift display at the warehouse. Same rainbow pattern. Thought the whole board was fried. Turned out to be one bent pin on the connector. Bent it back with a toothpick. Worked fine for three more years. People always jump to the worst case. Batteries, alternators, whole BITE tests. Sometimes it's just a bad connection. Check the simple stuff first before you tear everything apart. Saves hours of headache.

My old Civic's dashboard did that once, just before the alternator died completely.
