Vent: I used a generic fiber optic cleaner on a Collins Pro Line 21 connector and now the signal loss is worse.

The cleaner was rated for the wavelength but left a residue, so what's the best solvent for cleaning these without damaging the ceramic ferrule?

Ugh, try pure isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free wipe.

Reminds me of the time I cleaned my glasses with hand sanitizer and it left this weird film.

Hold up... is it really that serious though? I've wiped my glasses with hand sanitizer a bunch of times when I couldn't find my spray and it wasn't that bad. Yeah there was a little bit of a film but it cleared up after a few minutes. People act like you're gonna ruin your lenses forever or something. Unless you're using some super cheapo lenses or something it's probably fine. I feel like half the stuff people say is bad for your glasses is just overblown.
