Broke a trekking pole at the worst spot on the Timberline Trail
I was about 3 miles past Ramona Falls on the Timberline Trail two weekends ago when my right pole snapped clean in half. The lower section jammed into a rock gap and just gave out when I leaned on it. I ended up lashing the two pieces together with paracord and a stick I found nearby, which got me the 8 miles back to the car but felt sketchy on the creek crossings. Has anyone rigged a fix like this that actually held up for more than a day?
