Had a perfect 3-day stretch on the Pacific Crest Trail near Etna then hit a monsoon that soaked everything I owned
First half of the week was smooth sailing with clear skies and gentle terrain, but the next 48 hours turned into a slog through mud and wet gear that had me questioning why I even left home - has anyone else dealt with a route that flipped from amazing to awful that fast?

Dont buy the hype about the weather turning bad being a dealbreaker. That monsoon probably washed all the dust off your gear and gave you a real trail experience instead of a boring walk in the park. Sleeping in wet socks builds character and makes the dry days feel that much better.

Yeah I used to be pretty fussy about weather when I was newer to hiking, but you're right - that rough stuff changes the whole trip. A wet night makes you appreciate a dry campfire so much more the next day. Now I just pack an extra pair of socks and roll with whatever comes.
