Rain turned the Timber Creek crossing on the Ozark loop into a river and I had to back out 4 miles
I planned a 3 day loop out of the Big Piney trailhead last weekend and got slammed by a storm on day 2 that filled the low creek up to my knees, way above the rocks I'd used to cross it the day before. I turned around and hiked 4 miles back to a dry ridge campsite, then bailed to the car the next morning, and yeah I'm a little mad about it but backing out was the right call. What's your rule for a crossing that's higher than it was on the way in?
