Saw a trail sign at Grayson Highlands that said 2.1 miles and it took me 4 hours
I hiked the Wilburn Ridge loop near Mount Rogers last month and the sign at the parking area listed the loop at 4.1 miles round trip. The thing nobody warns you about is the feral ponies standing dead center on the trail who will not move for anything. I stood there for 15 minutes while one just stared at me and chewed. Every guide I read before going called this loop "moderate" and my legs disagree after the rock scramble near the top. Does anyone have a better route in that area that skips the pony traffic jam?
