Spent $180 on a lightweight tent footprint and it ripped first trip

Got the fancy Gossamer Gear polycro sheet for my tent and a sharp rock put a hole in it after 3 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. Anyone else had better luck with a cheap Tyvek sheet instead?

That's a Gossamer Gear polycro footprint, not just a fancy sheet.

Polycro is basically glorified bubble wrap without the bubbles, but people act like it's some secret UL hack. The real game changer nobody talks about is how insanely slippery it gets when there's any moisture underneath. Set up on even slightly damp ground and your whole shelter can slide sideways in a light breeze. I've seen dudes stake it out perfectly only to wake up with their fly wrapped around a tree because the groundsheet migrated overnight. Also good luck getting it to sit flat if there's any uneven ground, it crinkles up and leaves gaps for water to pool under your tent. Seal the deal stuff is way more forgiving even if it weighs a few grams more.
