Swapped to the AT after hating the Pinhoti's water situation

I was dead set on finishing the Pinhoti Trail this fall, but after 3 days of dry creek beds and packing 4 liters at a time I gave up. The Appalachian Trail in Georgia has way more reliable water sources (like every 3-5 miles instead of 8+), and the shelters are a nice bonus. Anyone else bail on a route mid-trip because of water access?

Yeah my buddy Tom had the exact same thing happen on the Pinhoti last spring... he packed in 6 liters at one point because the Guthook comments were all from a month earlier when it was raining. Ended up having to hike out early because his filter clogged from silt and he got worried about dehydration. Said it was the most frustrated he's ever been on a trail because you'd plan around these water drops and then find a muddy puddle instead. He switched to the AT the next year too and told me it felt like cheating with how often you could just stop and fill up.

Yeah dry creek beds on the Pinhoti drove me crazy too, I always check recent Guthook comments now before a trip.
