Vent: I always thought the Appalachian Trail was the longest US trail

I was looking at a National Park Service map last week and saw that the North Country Trail is actually over 1,000 miles longer. It blew my mind. Has anyone here actually section-hiked a piece of that one?

Yeah, that North Country Trail fact is wild. I tried a weekend on the Michigan section last fall, near the Manistee River. The trail markers were so sparse we got turned around for a solid hour. What's the most remote part you've ever hiked?

Lost for an hour doesn't sound that bad honestly.

Oh man, next time bring some orange flagging tape and mark your turns as you go.
