A guy at the Toledo art walk told me my 3am doodle belonged in a museum, and I still can't tell if he was joking
Two summers ago at the art walk on Adams Street in Toledo, this older guy in a bucket hat stopped at my table and stared at a scribbled page I almost threw away. I drew it around 3am after no sleep, just a lumpy fish with human teeth on notebook paper, and he said it was the most honest thing he'd seen all night. He pulled out $5 and asked if he could keep it. Everyone online says bad art is just bad art and shouldn't be shown, but this guy treated my ugly fish like it mattered, and now I tape my worst drawings to the fridge instead of the trash. Has someone ever paid you actual money for a half-asleep doodle you were too embarrassed to post?
