Spent 3 hours on a doodle of my cat and it looked like a potato with legs

Last Tuesday I was up until 2am with insomnia and decided to draw my orange tabby sleeping on the couch. The result was this lumpy thing that barely resembles a cat - one eye is twice the size of the other and the tail looks like a worm. My 4 year old asked if it was a potato with legs and honestly she wasn't wrong. Has anyone else had a late night drawing turn into something completely unrecognizable from what you meant to draw?

Lower your standards and lean into the potato. Makes the process way more fun.

Bought a bag of cheap russets last week on a whim and honestly it was the best cooking week I've had in months. Made a super basic smashed potato thing with just oil and salt and they came out perfect. Idk why I was trying so hard with fancy recipes and expensive ingredients when a simple potato really does the trick.
