That "draw what the line does, not what you see" comment finally clicked for me last night
I was sketching a coffee mug at 1am and someone in a Discord art group told me to stop outlining the cup and instead draw the shadow shapes first. I thought it was nonsense because outlines are the whole point, right? But I tried it on a crumpled napkin drawing and suddenly the mess looked like an actual object. Has anyone else gotten one piece of feedback that completely flipped their process, or am I the last one to learn this?
