Found a map of my town from 1985 and used it to navigate last week
I was clearing out my dad's old stuff and came across a folded up map of our city from 1985. On a whim I took it on a drive to find a restaurant on the other side of town. Three streets I tried to turn down just ended in cul-de-sacs that were through streets back then. One road on the map doesn't even exist anymore - it got turned into a bike path. Made it to the restaurant 40 minutes late and my wife was not happy. Has anyone else tried using an old map for fun and had it totally backfire?

Honestly that sounds like something I'd do and my wife would just give me that look. Maybe it's just me but I swear old maps have this magical way of making you feel like you're in a totally different city. At least you didn't end up on a dead end road that got turned into a hiking trail like I did once. Ended up calling my wife to come pick me up and she still brings it up every time I suggest a "shortcut." It's like the map was trying to send me to a parallel universe where my GPS never existed.
