I laughed at the tourist map at the Grand Canyon for 2 hours, but that thing showed a shuttle route my $12 trail app missed
Stood at the Bright Angel trailhead last July watching a family of 6 unfold a paper map that looked like a cartoon, and when my phone died at mile 3 they were the ones who pointed me to the right bus stop, so now I want to know if anyone else has found a paper map that actually beats the apps.

Does the cartoon map ever show a trail that the app swears does not exist? My proudest moment was getting lost in Zion with a fully charged phone while a guy with a free ranger handout pointed me back to the right stop. I have made peace with the fact that sometimes the dumb piece of paper is the smart one.
