Just found a map from 1987 that shows the Soviet Union with a giant land bridge to Alaska

I was cleaning out my dad's old atlas and there's this fold-out map where the cartographer clearly gave up on drawing the Bering Strait. It's just a solid chunk of land connecting Russia to Nome like someone spilled gravy on the page and called it a day. Has anyone else found maps that look like the person making them was guessing the geography from memory?

Wait, was the land bridge actually drawn in with ink or was it part of the actual printed map lol? I've seen old maps from the 1500s where California is an island so it seems like cartographers were just making stuff up sometimes. You gotta wonder how many other maps out there have whole continents just plopped in the wrong spot because the guy was too lazy to double check.
