Spent $25 on a 'vintage' map of my city off Etsy and it was just a blurry screenshot from Google Maps
I mean, I get that I should have looked closer at the photos, but the seller had good reviews and everything. When it showed up, you could barely read the street names and the colors were all washed out. Felt like I got played. Anyone else get burned buying old maps online?

Aw man, that stinks... I feel your pain. For real, you gotta look at the item descriptions like you're a detective. Check for anything that says "reproduction" or "print on demand" because that's usually a red flag. And if the listing photos show a map that looks like it was taken with a potato, trust your gut and move on. Next time, try searching for a local antique store's online shop instead, they usually have the real deal and will actually describe the condition honestly.

Yeah, you been burned by this too? I bought a vintage map off Ebay once that looked fine in the listing, but when it came the paper felt like cheap printer stock and the edges were all pixelated. A lot of those sellers just scan an old map or pull a screenshot, then print it on low quality paper and call it vintage. Try looking for sellers that post photos of the actual map they're selling, not just a digital mockup - that way you can see the paper texture and the real colors before you buy.
