That map of the United States where someone rotated California 45 degrees to fit it in the corner

Saw one yesterday where the person clearly didn't understand state shapes at all. California was just slapped in sideways like it was a Tetris piece. Texas was missing its panhandle. And Florida? Just a blob. My buddy printed it for a school project and didn't notice til the teacher pointed it out. Has anyone else found a map so bad it made you laugh out loud?

and that's the thing, once you see it you can't unsee it. like how do you mess up the panhandle? it's literally the most famous part of Texas. i swear some people just look at a blank outline and guess where the borders go. Florida being a blob is especially funny because it's one of the most recognizable shapes on the whole map. it's like they drew it from memory after only seeing it once on a placemat at a diner. your buddy's teacher probably had a good laugh before pointing it out.

You compared Florida to a placemat drawing from a diner and honestly I think you're giving people too much credit. You ever actually try to draw Florida from memory? It's not as easy as it looks. The panhandle is skinny and long and curves weird, and the bottom part has all those little key islands hanging off it. Most brains simplify shapes to keep from going crazy. Texas too. If you ask someone to draw it without looking, odds are they draw a square or a rectangle with a little bump on top. That's not messing up, that's just how memory works. It's like when you try to describe a face you've seen a thousand times. You know it when you see it but you can't reproduce it. So cut the teacher some slack. They probably just glanced at a map once and went from there.
