The parking garage map that sent me to a loading dock, but actually worked

I was trying to find the visitor entrance at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno last Tuesday and the official map showed a 'P2' level that didn't match the elevator buttons at all. After circling twice, I just followed the delivery truck signs and ended up in a staff lot with a working exit gate, free of charge. Has anyone else found that these outdated hospital maps are secretly better for parking than the new ones they post online?

Three years ago I had the same thing happen at a county courthouse in Ohio, except the old map led me to a whole different building that turned out to be the tax assessor's office. The outdated map was so wrong it accidentally routed me around a closed road and right into a free employee lot behind the records department. Nobody ever updates the physical signs posted on the light poles, those are the ones that actually match reality. I've started checking the hospital's satellite view on Google Maps instead of their official PDF, because the PDFs are usually scanned from a 1995 blueprint. The real trick is finding the oldest map you can, the one with the hand-drawn circle around the staff entrance, that's the good parking.

Damn, that's wild. Its crazy how the physical signs are somehow more reliable than the actual maps they hand out. Bro, that reminds me of the time I tried to find a DMV in Arizona and the GPS took me to this abandoned mall where the old DMV used to be, but there was still a faded arrow painted on the sidewalk pointing to the back entrance. I walked in and it was just a bunch of pigeons and a vending machine that only sold expired snacks. Ended up asking a guy walking his dog and he told me the DMV moved to a strip mall next to a laundromat two towns over, and sure enough that was the spot. The unofficial word of mouth always beats the official stuff somehow.
