Watched my town's bus map go from 40 stops to 12 in 3 years
I pulled up the map for the Dayton RTA route 7 bus because my car was in the shop and I wanted to see where it went. The old version from 2021 had stops every couple blocks, 40 of them on one street alone, and it made sense when I looked at it. Then I found the current map and half those dots are just gone, 12 stops for the same stretch of road, all pulled in 2023 after the agency said it was speeding up trips. Now the map looks clean but there is a note in the corner that says riders may need to walk up to a half mile to reach a stop, which feels like the whole point got erased. My neighbor said he walked 25 minutes each way to catch it in the rain, and he is 71. Did your city cut stops too, or is this just a Dayton thing?

That walking up to a half mile note got me, because my grandma's grocery store moved their entrance to the far side of the lot and she just stopped going. Half a mile in the rain at 71 isn't a shorter trip, it's a different trip you don't take.
