Can we talk about that 1998 article claiming we'd all be commuting by hovercraft by 2010?

I found it in my mom's basement last weekend and it even had a diagram of a personal hovercraft parking garage, which just made me laugh because I spent yesterday morning scraping gum off a bus seat in Atlanta traffic.

Man, those old predictions crack me up too. My dad actually saved a copy of that same article in a scrapbook and I found it while cleaning out his garage last year. The parking garage diagram was hilariously detailed, even had a level just for "emergency landing pads" lmao. Meanwhile I'm just trying to parallel park my '98 Civic without scraping the bumper again.

Did the diagram also show the little hovercraft umbrella holders for when you parked it and had to walk to the office? Because those old predictions never seemed to account for rain or potholes or traffic jams, just flying cars and clean clothes forever.
